You are giving a break out session at a conference. The program has been handed out and there are many choices. Do you have a title that grabs them or bores them?

The Shawshank Redemption is one of the greatest films ever made. Yet it failed at the box office. All those connected to it give the same reason: the title. While we all know it now, thanks to repeated TV showings and it becoming a classic, but when it first came out people didn’t get the title and it hurt the movie financially.

Think about clickbait and what draws you in. It’s headlines folks. “You won’t believe what this common household item can clean” and click you go. Watching TV and they show video and say “A Dallas man found a treasure in his back yard, what is it? We’ll tell your right after this break.” Now, you will stick around because you are curious. It’s why you pick up magazines in the grocery aisle, it got your attention.

What makes you pay attention? Examine it and use something similar whether it’s a speech, podcast, title of a business, an article, a paper, anything. Make them want to dive in.
